Steve + Haley | June 24, 2017 Wedding
Okanagan Falls, British Columbia
Steve & Haley's wedding was one for the books. It was a breeze being around these two all day, they are so easy-going, down to earth, and just kind people.
Haley got ready at her mom's house in OK Falls with her closest friends and of course her puppy dog Duke. Her dress from Bliss Bridal Kelowna was perfect for a hot summer day - flowy and breezy. When I first saw this dress, my immediate thought was how well it suited Haley. Just enough bling, but simple yet elegant. Located at Liquidity Wines, Steve and Haley said their vows surrounded by their closest friends and family during a small intimate ceremony. Look at their gramma's being their witnesses! How freaking adorable and precious is that.

After family photos, the three of us hopped in Haley's dad's old 70' something jeep - it roared when Steve turned the ignition, this thing was meant for offroading. We took so many beautiful portraits of the newlyweds. After probably getting tired of seeing my happy dance during portraits (just kidding, but seriously) we cruised back to the Thompson residence in OK Falls where the reception were to take place on the property. Underneath a giant tent, River Road Rentals had created the feeling of a family picnic. Wood plates, mason jar glasses, moss, and picnic benches, a true backyard family styled wedding.
The parents of the bride were introduced with AC/DC playing and the grooms' parents were introduced to the sounds of Keith Urban. With Haley's brother Taylor MC-ing and getting the crowd laughing I couldn't help but stop and smile. The entire day I was treated like a family member because that is who each and every guest meant to the bride and groom, they were in fact family. Whether you were a relative, friend or vendor, we were all family there to celebrate the marriage of Steve and Haley.

After a delicious meal by Inferno Wood Fired Pizza, speeches happened. This is one of my favourite parts of the day, aside from the groom seeing his bride for the 1st time. Speeches are the time where I get the honour to listen and document the silly, embarrassing stories from when the bride and groom were younger, but also to hear about the vast amount of love there is for the the newlyweds.

After dinner, the family mingled and indulged in dessert, gelato. The chatter sounded like a family reunion and people were quickly on the dance floor. Haley & Steve decided not to do any of the traditional first dances as they wanted to be able to spend time with every guest - awwww.

Think this wedding couldn't get anymore magical ? Well it did - it ended with a firework celebration.

This wedding was casual, simple, and so so SO beautiful. A true backyard wedding and I am so thrilled to have been able to share these moments with the Thompson / Swetlishoff family.
